Vacation Savings Challenge

What did you save for? 

I saved for a 4 day Destin Bachelorette party with my 8 friends! I was also able to fully save for my trip with my fiancé to Hawaii. Because of the VSC, we doubled our original budget to stay in a nice resort along the North Shore and include excursions during our week there. 

What did you think about the VSC? 

I personally believe the investment is 100% worth it. You get an instant support group, great resources to help mentally prepare your savings goals, and the weekly tips helped expand my knowledge or let others in the group share their own money knowledge. I would say the biggest gain from this challenge was the confidence in my ability to save for anything to make my goals a reality.  

My favorite thing about VSC program is the accountability aspect. I'm a competitive person so having people watching my savings grow (or decrease) is a huge motivator for me. It not only motivated me to save, but to find creative ways to make more money. I wanted to complete the challenge with fully funded trips and in doing so I was able to finally sell all my old clothes, I was strategic about what I purchased and returned from the store, and I started using old projects or things around the house to prep for my wedding instead of buying new! It was a great way to think creatively and keep both myself and my fiancé on track. 

What did you save for? 

I saved for a trip for my husband and I to go to London. After going to Europe in 2022, I couldn’t wait to get back but we had limited time and London seemed like a great, accessible option. 

What did you think about the VSC?

The accountability piece was huge! Knowing I was going to get asked each week how much I saved was definitely motivating. Reevaluating my spending and how giving up little could equal big savings overtime. Also, I’m very visual so coloring in the tracker I’m seeing the numbers grow on the spreadsheet was really motivating!
